Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Modulate and Loop Use the Loop Machine to create and play back loops on the fly: Layer different leads, riffs and rhythms on top of one another and gradually build up entire guitar sections. Tools such as the Crossover and Split offer unique potential while the Modifiers' ability to modulate any of the parameters in real-time far exceed the realms of conventional set-ups. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2's exceptional sound quality and features make it the ideal choice – perfect for studios and stages of all sizes or just jamming at home or on the road. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Amps As with the all of the GUITAR RIG components, the highest value was placed on recreating a perfect, truly authentic, sound and sonic response. The Dynamic Tube Response technology that was developed specifically for tzhis purpose delivers great results: the eight brilliant sounding tube amps "Instant Gratifier", "Twang Reverb", "AC-Box", "Plexi", "Tweedman", "Jazz Amp", "Lead 800" and "Bass VT" all sound and respond just like the real amplifiers! Eight amps - Gratifier emulates a smokin' solo head sound with a tube power amp. Its tonal spectrum spans the range from clean to over-the-top distortion.
- Twang Reverb simulates the rich tube sound of the classic amps from decades ago. It's ideal for screaming blues leads and crunchy rhythm guitar sounds, as well as clean sounds laden with personality.
- The classic Plexi sound probably needs no introduction – it's the vintage amp sound that has powered too many hit records to mention!
- AC-Box models the famous amp sound that powered the British conquest of pop music.
- The role model of the Tweedman was originally a bass amp but subsequently swapped sides becoming a guitar amp.
- The Jazz Amp produces a warm, clean tone. An essential part of its sound is the Ensemble effect, which adds chorusing or vibrato. As a result, the Ensemble is built into the Jazz Amp.
- Lead 800 produces smooth, intense lead sounds that are razor sharp and offer plenty of flexibility.
- Bass VT is a bass amp delivering a gritty, growling sound that can really make a bass stand out in a mix. In addition to the unique tonal qualities, there's a graphic equalizer to allow the sound to be tailored more precisely.
Along with the standard settings, each amplifier offers more sound-influencing "Expert Parameters", including power supply (50/60 Hz), "Variac" (reducing the supply voltage), "Response", as well as virtual "aging" of the tubes. Excellent sonic fine-tuning for real gear heads and sound fetishists! Sonic fine-tuning for gear heads... "Cabinets & Mics" This component models the standard guitar amp recording chain: Cabinet, mic and mic position. Here you've got 25 guitar and bass cabinets, nine microphones each with four to five mic positions at your disposal – all freely combinable. The variety of sonic possibility is formidable! But that's not all: Click on the small 'Add' button, and another recording chain folds out (up to eight in total per component) with the same set of options and controls. Why settle for miking one or two cabinets when you can create a wall of sound! Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 integrates more than 35 classic and modern guitar effects, which can be combined in any order or quantity you desire. Two distortion components, three delay units, four equalizers? No problem! New effects in Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2: - 8 new effects
- Trans Amp: versatile distortion box
- Mezone: metal distortion
- AutoFilter: perfect auto wahwah, e.g. for funk
- Stomp Compressor: new compressor with an especially tight and clean sound
- Pro Filter: NI PRO-53 synthesizer filter – analog and simply fat!
- Gain Booster: extra gain for radical boosting of gain to attain even more overdrive etc
- Noise Reduction: affects the signal similarly to a noise gate, but has a less abrupt action
- Cry Wah - new WahWah modelled after a famous hardware wah.
Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Time-based Effects Delays and reverbs are the bread and butter of every guitarist's arsenal, which is why we took extra care to deliver the finest selection of virtual delays and reverbs available. Based on award winning NI effects algorithms, these units will go the distance on any setup. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Modulation Effects The modulation effects include classic tremolo, octaver, phaser, pitch pedal and much more. These perfectly modeled effects provide a number of options for making your sound more dynamic - whether a pulsating tremolo or a swirling 70's style phaser. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Distortion and Overdrive GUITAR RIG 2 offers seven excellent fuzz, distortion and overdrive units. These components are accurate reproductions of classic hardware devices, and sound just like the originals. "Skreamer": This warm, smooth-sounding overdrive works great for rhythm guitar and smooth leads. "Distortion": Classic distortion "Fuzz Ace": fuzz pedal based on Arbiter™ Fuzz Face™ "Big Fuzz": fuzz pedal based on Electro Harmonix™ Big Muff™ "Cat": distortion pedal based on ProCo™ Rat™ "Demon Distortion": distortion pedal based on MXR™ Dime Distortion™ "Trans Amp:" versatile distortion box "Mezone:" metal distortion Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Filter Effects Choose from an impressive range of filter-based effects, from wahwah's to EQs. These effects serve a number of purposes, from sound and tone design to hum elimination, emphasis of certain instruments, enhancing leads and improving distortion. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Volume Effects From Volume Pedal to Noisegate, Limiter, and Compressor, the spectrum of these effects is more than enough. With these units you can filter bothersome noises, limit peaks and give your sounds a more dense, compact and dynamic feel. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Split Module The Split Module allows you to create parallel (instead of serial) effects chains. This means you can process the split the sound and process it with different effects and then mix the results back together at the end. Serial, parallel, and mixed serial/parallel combinations offer a practically limitless range of possibilities for combining effects, for a truly original sound. The Split Module can be inserted anywhere in the rack. If you would like to play with two guitars or use a Chapman Stick with stereo output, you can edit both channels separately (button: "Dual Mode"). Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Crossover Mix This device is similar to the Split Module, in that it splits the signal path into two, thus allowing parallel effects. However, in this case, you can set a dividing line ("crossover point") in the frequency response, and send lower frequencies to one split and higher frequencies to the other split. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Modulating sounds Users of synthesizers know modifiers as "modulators". For the first time, this feature is now available for guitars: GUITAR RIG 2's modifiers can automatically animate any sound parameter thus generating especially vivid sounds with a live feel. Strum a chord and use the modifier to add rhythmic filter or distortion effect while staying perfectly in sync – the possibilities are virtually endless! Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 offers the following modifiers: LFO (low frequency oscillator) with five waveforms – for continuous or arbitrary modulation Analog Sequencer - 16 adjustable steps for variable triggering of sound parameters Input Level – an envelope follower scanning the volume of the input signal and transforming it into a control signal, e.g. the louder you play, the more distortion you get Step Sequencer - 16 on/off steps for "hard" triggering of sound parameters Multi-step envelope – for "drawing" the sound progression (as in FM7, KONTAKT 2) All modifiers can be assigned to any parameter, they can even control several parameters at once or be used in multiple instances in the rack – a paradise for sonic experiments. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 - Loop Machine The Loop Machine is another unrivalled feature of GUITAR RIG 2 that you will not find in any comparable solution. This efficient tool allows you to record, layer, loop and playback riffs, licks, grooves and bass lines enabling the creation of dense guitar and bass patterns or to accompany yourself on-the-fly. Loops can be synchronized to the tempo of your host application (sequencer) or to a metronome. An example for practical use: First, you play four bars of rhythm guitar, after that you play a lead guitar, then some additional harmonies/chords and then some rhythmic slides etc… Record, loop and overdub your play on the fly The Loop Machine connects the best features of renowned originals with many new features. The loop duration is only limited by the size of your hard disc – theoretically you can layer loops for hours. A total of up to 99 phrases is possible. Other powerful features You can export the complete recording as well as every single individual layer - for using the best licks only or for re-arrangement in a sequencer for example. With Loop Machine's multiple undo feature poorly played licks can be erased. Additionally, you can layer a longer loop on top of a shorter one, an 8 bar solo guitar on top of a 4 bar lick for example. Of course, the start and overdub buttons (and other parameters) can be controlled with the foot-controller – to keep your hands free for playing. Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 is ideal for sessions, practicing, and sketching song ideas! This is made possible through integrated, high-performance tapedecks with time stretching, pitch shifting and a convenient loop function. 2 tapedecks for recording and rehearsal Different uses for the tapedecks: a) Sketching song ideas: Simply record your guitar playing (as wav file) to the hard drive, so no idea gets forgotten. b) Accompany yourself: Play a few licks and riffs, loop a passage, and then play a solo over it! c) Play to loops and backings: Load a drum or instrument loop (for example guitar, bass, keyboard, complete play-along tracks, etc.) and play over that. You can even change the tempo and pitch independently of one another, which works great for pitching up a guitar lick while reducing its tempo at the same time! So you can get right to it, there’s a wide selection of play-along loops included (see below). d) Practice licks, phrases, and solos: With the integrated tapedecks you can do more than accompaniments: each loop can be played back faster or slower and pitched independently of tempo: load a difficult guitar solo and simply play it back slower (at the same pitch!) or put it in another key (with the same tempo!). Tapedeck One allows for pitch correction of +/- 12 semi tones and independet tempo correction of +/- 50%. Play along your backing tracks in any pitch and tempo you desire! Samples and Loops included You can play to accompaniments and drum loops right away, since GUITAR RIG includes around 150 MB of sample loops for use in the tapedecks. The loops cover the categories "Backing Tracks", "Bass Loops", "Drum Loops", "Guitar Loops", "Keyboard Loops", "Synth Loops", and "Vocal Samples".
Plus you can load and play back other loops in MP3, WAV, and AIFF format up to 16-bit resolution (for example sample CDs, etc). Native Instruments Battery 3 - Basic Operation and Layout The basic layout of Native Instruments Battery 3 is divided horizontally into two main sections and the header bar: - The header: Loading and saving kits, setting master tempo and volume
- The Cell Matrix: displays between 16 and 128 sample cells
- The Edit Pane: containing browser, cell edit, effects and sound-editing parameters
Operating Native Instruments Battery 3 is a fast and intuitive process. Select an individual cell or multiple cells and all the associated sound parameters are displayed in the lower section of the interface. A vast array of settings can be changed quickly and easily: filter, compressor, pan, pitch, outputs, modulations, envelopes and the list goes on. Alter these settings and you can hear, and see, the effects in real-time. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Variable Cell Matrix Native Instruments Battery 3's intuitive interface truly is a case of plug and play. Simply arrange your drums in up to a total of 128 sample cells and create whole new drum kits in a matter of seconds. Rearrange the sample cells or customize the cell matrix itself: Up to 8 rows with between 4 and 16 sample cells per row ensure your drum kit is presented in the most economic and practical manner. A real space saver. The small triangle button just below the bottom right-hand corner of the cell matrix toggles the Edit Pane on and off - saving still more screen space. Native Instruments Battery 3 - The Sample Cells and Drum Cells Mute, solo and adjust key parameters for individual sample cells, groups of sample cells or entire rows and columns of sample cells. The "Cell" panel in the Edit Pane displays all relevant information with respect to the basic MIDI information, voice groups, key range, name and similar parameter settings for the currently selected sample cell or group of sample cells. Right clicking (ctrl-click) on a sample cell calls up a context menu, allowing you to load samples into the sample cell, copy and paste, re-arrange, save sample cells and more. You also have the option of browsing through the drum cell library and choosing from a huge selection of over 2500 drum cells – specialized drum sounds that are based on multiple drum samples and specific parameter settings. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Edit Pane The edit pane allows further editing of individual samples or entire drum cells. Drum sounds can be finely edited using the mapping and sample editors and the drum cell setup page allows articulations and the like to be added. An effects section for each individual sample cell plus a master effects section for the full drum kit ensure you find just the right sound and tonality. The browser affords easy access to samples, cells and entire kits. Third party sample formats such as Apple Loops, REX, Akai, EXS and many more can of course be imported, guaranteeing Native Instruments Battery 3's compatibility with just about every drum sample available. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Kit Management Use the kit management tool to quickly load and save entire drum kits. The library's "Fast Load" menu browses the kits located in the Native Instruments Battery 3 library folder. Use this menu or the "Next" and "Previous" buttons to quickly navigate through the entire kit library. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Articulations Native Instruments Battery 3 is the first sampler that includes a set of advanced articulations and performance features, making your drum tracks more realistic than ever before. The articulations include drum rudiments and playing styles that add a truly individual touch. Cell setup and humanize make over quantized tracks sound far more authentic and the MIDI Echo adds a further creative dimension to each separate cell. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Drum Rudiments The articulation section includes 10 different drum rudiments that make Native Instruments Battery 3 a world-class drummer. Each articulation has its own set of parameters that can be varied to suit your style. Flam, drag, roll, buzz, three stroke ruff, speed roll, muted, alternate and release stroke and the Geiger Counter all add that essential, realistic touch to your drums, that normally only a drummer could provide. Native Instruments Battery 3 - MIDI Echo and Humanize The MIDI Echo repeats the MIDI in note, either based on a fixed time or synced to the host or master tempo. Gravity slows down the time and tune changes the pitch of each repeated note. The combination of these two effects gives extra depth to your cells or entire kits and offers exiting new possibilities Native Instruments Battery 3 - Velocity, Input Quantize and Cell Setup Using the voice and choke groups adds a more natural feel to hi-hats. The cell activation with cycle round robin or cycle random will automatically switch between different samples or cells. Adjust the velocity per cell to fit you input interface (keyboard or drum controller) and use the input quantize to adjust the note on of a cell based on a time grid. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Sound Shaping Native Instruments Battery 3 is armed with an arsenal of powerful and flexible effects. Dedicated multi-mode filters, equalizer, compressor, lo-fi, saturator and more for each and every cell offer the versatility and quality needed to bring your drums to life. The master effects (equalizer, limiter, compressor, delay and two types or reverb) guarantee your drums a production-ready and cohesive sound. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Master Effects Don't want the headache of having to deal with extra plug-ins or additional effects? Just use Native Instruments Battery 3's internal limiter, compressor, equalizer to master your kit for final production. Or add a tempo synced stereo delay with individual send levels per cell. The integrated reverb effect has two modes: one algorithmic reverb and a convolution-based reverb for a more authentic sound. You can even drag samples directly from the matrix onto the convolution display and load it as an impulse. For example, try dragging a snare sample onto the convolution display and listen to how a full drum kit sounds when played through a snare. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Cell Effects - Flexible Filters: Each sample cell has a dedicated, multi-mode filter section including presets that have been optimized specifically for drum sounds. Use the 16 individual types of filters and eq’s to tweak each individual drum hit and achieve the precise sound needed, giving your productions the creative edge. Link filter parameters to the modulation section to obtain some dynamic, constantly changing results. The filter cut-off and resonance parameters, for instance, are particularly well suited as modulation destinations.
- Powerful Compressor: Beef up your sound. Included in BATTERY 3 is one powerful compressor per sample cell allowing you to control and manipulate the dynamic range, making sure that every individual drum sample packs just the right punch. Try using the bypass switch to compare the compressed and non-compressed sound; you will often find that just a small amount of compression will result in a fat sound without it being over-powering.
Native Instruments Battery 3 - Saturation, Bit Reduction, Re-Sampling Effect... This module affects any selected cells, and provides a broad range of modifications. - Tune: changes the pitch of the selected cell. The range of three octaves up or down allow for some serious sound design effetcs.
- Saturation: can give a sound a lot more punch and attack. Negative saturation can also be set, allowing it to work much like an expander.
- Bits: allows for some retro, lo-fi sounds. Sets the bit resolution between 1 and 16 bits. Emulate the old school digital equipment or try out some "sci-fi fractional" bit reduction.
- Hertz: is another outstanding candidate to be used as a modualtion destination. Hertz sets the sample rate bewteeen 15.8KHz and 1KHz, achieving some clangy, metallic sound effects.
Native Instruments Battery 3 - Sound Editing Native Instruments Battery 3 - Wave Editor The graphical wave editor lets you edit your sounds in minute detail (down to the single sample level). Cut, copy, paste, normalize, reverse and more - adjust the sounds fit to your exact needs. Or use the wave editor to experiment with the samples while just editing parts of the waveform. If you are not happy with the changes you make, simply click the “original” button and the sample is returned to its original state. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Looped Samples The Loop section adds an important effect to Native Instruments Battery 3: the ability to loop a section of the sample. You can choose up to four sections to loop as well as the number of times each section is repeated. This feature allows Native Instruments Battery 3 to extend percussion sampling beyond mere "one-shot" sample playback into sustained sounds. Let the sample evolve over time and be further modified by envelopes adding an even greater dynamic element to the sound. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Mapping The graphical mapping editor offers an intuitive way to load samples and arrange them on the different velocity layers within a sample cell. In the map view, samples display additional parameters defining how they are triggered and crossfaded etc, particularly realistic drum cells dynamics, for example, respond to the way in which they are being played. Tune, volume and pan can be adjusted individually per sample, so that smooth transitions are ensured. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Automate and Modulate Give your rhythm section a life of its own. The sophisticated modulation features in BATTERY 2 offer the potential to keep your drum tracks dynamic by adding constant yet subtle changes to the way in which the samples are played. Use the integrated, freely assignable LFOs, envelopes and other sources to modulate up to 8 destinations per cell simultaneously. Manipulate the velocity, key position, pitchbend, aftertouch, release velocity, volume envelopes, pan, pitch sample start and a whole host of other parameters for every individual hit. Witness endless variations in the sounds and rhythms - lend your drums and percussion a truly human touch. As these modulation sources can also be MIDI controllers, it's possible to feed signals from external hardware MIDI fader boxes and manipulate the sound as a real-time performance. Alternatively you can use the automation feature in plug-in mode to record automation data for later playback. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Loop Machine Native Instruments Battery 3 - Preview and Import Native Instruments Battery 3 can now be used as loop production machine. You can preview beat loops synced to the master or host tempo directly within the browser: simply select the loop file and enable the sync option. Finding a loop that fits perfectly into your song has never been easier. Importing sliced loops can be done in one of two different ways: - Drag and drop a loop onto a cell and play back the whole loop synced to host tempo
- Import all slices of a loop into separate cells. This method allows you to adjust the character of each slice individually and edit the rhythm itself.
Native Instruments Battery 3 - Stay in Sync While all loops can be synced within the browser preview and after importing, it doesn't stop there. Native Instruments Battery 3 is also able to sync the LFOs, the MIDI echo and delay effect, so that even after changing the master tempo everything stays in sync with your song. If you want to experiment with these sync settings, you can also change the signature or set each individual loop to double or half speed. The input quantize and retrigger functions also lend themselves particularly well to being used in a live context. Input quantize set every MIDI "note on" to the next bar, quarter or half note, depending on your setting. You can even quantize the length of each note and retrigger a cell. This feature in combination with the latch function, which keeps a note playing until you retrigger the same key, makes Native Instruments Battery 3 the perfect loop machine for live playback. Native Instruments Battery 3 - Four to the Floor While most other samplers only support one beat loop format, Native Instruments Battery 3 supports all 4 major formats, granting you access to a universe of loops from other sound manufacturers. Native Instruments B4 II Authentic Software The B4 software organ broke new ground when it was released in 2000 and was an instant success. It reproduces the sound of the legendary B3 and its rotary speaker cabinet with unmatched accuracy. Its expressiveness and immediate playability continues to amaze even the most experienced organ players. The Native Instruments B4 II raises the bar considerably, generating a much wider sonic range and a far richer, even more authentic sound. Through The Tube The latest version of this award-winning virtual organ sees the addition of many extra components. A tube amplifier and a selection of classic speaker cabinets offer you greater freedom of expression. Spring and studio reverb modules lend the sound more depth and atmosphere. From silky soft to relentlessly rockin', the sound is stunningly precise and more versatile than ever before. Attention To Detail From the drawbars, the vibrato and chorus to the tube distortion and rotary speakers, the Native Instruments B4 II delivers the sound of the original in incredible detail. The cross-talk between the tonewheels is adjustable and 11 additional tonewheel sets are also included: 'Cosmetically age' the B4 II or transform it into a Farfisa, a Vox Continental or an Indian Harmonium. A Joy To Play The Native Instruments B4 II is instantly playable. Its convenient Preset Manager coupled with a large selection of presets offer a wide range of styles. The new bass pedal legato and string bass features make using the foot pedals easy: a walking bass has never been simpler. The B4 II is a rounded, enthralling and easy-to-use software organ that instantly delights– start playing and you won't stop. The additional tonewheel sets vastly expand the B4 II's sonic potential. Adjust the age of your B4 II: From factory-fresh to old and worn after years on stage - the choice is yours. Or turn the B4 II into a completely different organ altogether: the Farfisa, Vox Continental and Indian Harmonium are all included. Additional Tonewheels Integrated into the Native Instruments B4 II are additonal tonewheel sets, so you can make it sound like a B3 that is sparkling-fresh from the factory, or like it was more than 100 years old. You can even replace the B3-modelled tonewheels with those of a Vox Continental, a Farfisa Compact, or a Harmonium to give your B4 a totally new character. Vox Continental The classic British Vox Continental organs were played by many of the great bands in the sixties and seventies, such as The Doors, The Animals and The Monkees. We have extracted the tones from the Vox Continental and converted them into B4 Tonewheel data to change the B4 into the classic transistor combo organ. Choose from three Vox Tonewheel Sets: Soft, Hard, and Mix, which faithfully correspond to the different tones sounds of the original Vox. Sound example Vox MP3 (0.6 MB) Farfisa Compact The highly-collectable Farfisa Compact was played by Pink Floyd, Jean-Michel Jarre, and Blondie. Included on this CD are 2 Tonewheel Sets, one with the Farfisa's Tone Booster switch activated and one with it off. Sound example Farfisa MP3 (1 MB) Indian Harmonium For something a bit unusual we have also taken an Indian Harmonium and converted its reed sound into a B4 Tonewheel Set.. With just one or two drawbars pulled out and lots of pumping on the expression pedal, the B4 sounds quite close to a real Harmonium. With more drawbars, vibrato-chorus, and the rotator turned on, it’s something else! Sound example Harmonium MP3 (1.1 MB) Master Tune Classic tonewheel organs were limited to a fixed tuning, since the tonewheels run at a fixed synchronous speed that cannot be changed. The only way to change the master tuning is to change the transmission ratios in the tonewheel generator. That’s completely impractical in hardware but easily achieved with the B4's replaceable tonewheel generator. With Native Instruments B4 II we are now offering the B3 Classic Tonewheel Set in versions tuned to 436Hz, 444Hz, 448Hz, and 452Hz to complement the standard 440Hz tuning.
The Ageing Process The filter capacitor in Hammond tonewheel generators deteriorate with age, which over time leads to an increase in leakage and rattle in the basic tone sound. At Native Instruments, we have found a way to artificially age the tonewheel sound. We can also run the process backwards to rejuvenate the tonewheels. To simulate B3 organs with different degrees of aging we offer Tonewheel Sets with varying amounts of purity or dirt: B3 classic – well matured B3 clean – good condition B3 pure – better than on day one B3 dirty – excessive ageing B3 filthy – very crunchy B3 trash – far beyond repair Native Instruments B4 II Top Features Authentic software version of the legendary tonewheel organ and rotary speaker Plays and sounds exactly like its real-world role model Play in stand-alone mode or use in the studio as a plug-in New: Tube amplifier and speaker cabinets engineered using Dynamic Tube Response technology New: Integrated spring and studio reverb units New: More than 120 new presets and 11 alternative tonewheels sets New: Intuitive MIDI controller integration including MIDI learn and controller templates 9 drawbars per manual and 6 drawbars for the pedals, adjustable keyclick and flexible percussion New: Pedal legato and string bass modes make sophisticated playing techniques easy Scanner vibrato/chorus, rotary speaker, and tube amp distortion and overdrive Native Instruments B4 II Interfaces Stand-alone, Audio Units™, VST®, RTAS™, DXi™, Core Audio™, DirectSound™, ASIO® Native Instruments B4 II System Requirements Mac OS X 10.3.x, G4 733 MHz, 256 MB RAM Windows XP, Pentium III/ Athlon 700 MHz, 256 MB RAM Native Instruments B4 II Recommended System Mac OS X 10.4.x, G4 1 GHz, 512 MB RAM Windows XP, Pentium III/ Athlon 1.5 GHz, 512 MB RAM Native Instruments FM8 Native Instruments FM8 - Contemporary Classic FM synthesis has played a huge role in music culture over the last few decades.
