Previous versions of the program allowed you to type in standard chord changes, choose a style and Band-in-a-Box would generate authentic sounding arrangements complete with harmonies.

Improvisation by musicians is an artistic process. Previous attempts to duplicate this process by computer have been disappointing. The Automatic Soloing feature, based on artificial intelligence and expert systems models, is able to overcome this barrier. Band-in-a-Box Version can create improvisations based on the same rules used by professional musicians, resulting in exciting and musically interesting solos that are different every time.

Direct QuickTime musical support (QuickTime 2.5 or higher) has been added, allowing Band-in-a-Box to generate a full band sound on a Macintosh, without using an external sound source or MIDI device.

Play any chord on your MIDI keyboard; Band-in-a-Box will recognize it instantly and insert it onto the chord sheet. This allows you to enter an entire song without having to type in any of the chords!
